He was one of the pioneers in the sport, along with Chuck Liddell and Randy Couture. Ortiz eventually became the most popular pay-per-view draw of 2006 for his bouts with Liddell, Forrest Griffin, and Ken Shamrock.Ortiz is the CEO of Punishment Athletics' MMA gear and clothing line, which is located in his hometown of Huntington Beach, California.
